Fundo sem fundo [Endless depths] presents over thirty paintings by Sérgio Fernandes, created for an artistic and research project on color and visual perception. The exhibition showcases works from 2021 to 2022, during his residency at the Centro de Arte Oliva. Fernandes extended his abstract painting work, using a limited chromatic range of reds, violets, blues, and dark greens. The large rectangular compositions feature varying densities of color and atmospheric elements, creating almost imperceptible transitions. The viewer can observe the interaction of pigments and overlapping layers of colors and glazing, resulting in shifting colors influenced by light and position.
